΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ is pleased to announce that its Moving Up programme is now open for registrations for 2022.

The programme is aimed at leaders from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds who want to take the next step in their career, with an understanding of the specific barriers which people from a diverse background may face in progression.

΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ data shows that while people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds make up 21% of the adult social care workforce, the same representation is not reflected in leadership roles.

The Moving Up programme includes a mix of self-learning modules and live online sessions, and covers topics and skills including networking, building self-confidence, leadership skills, creating a personal brand, and identifying your own skills and weaknesses.

Additionally, it offers an opportunity to network with like-minded people in the sector, learn from others, and share experiences and ideas.

There will be two cohorts available for this year’s programme with the first starting on 15 September 2022 and the second on 10 October 2022. From start to finish, the length of each cohort will be approximately three months.

The programme costs £750 +VAT, and employers can claim back £500 per participant through the Workforce Development Fund.

Oonagh Smyth, CEO of ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ says:

We are delighted to announce that registrations are now open for this year’s Moving Up programme. It’s always pleasing to hear of the impact our programme has for participants, and to see the interest expressed for registrations each year. It’s vital that we have diverse representation within the social care workforce, particularly in leadership roles, which unfortunately we don’t have at the moment. Supporting employers to foster equality, diversity and inclusion within their workplace culture, and supporting routes for progression is a key strategic aim for ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ and our successful Moving Up programme is a core part of that work.

΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ has received positive feedback on the programme from past participants.

One previous participant said:

One of the best leadership and training programmes I’ve done in my career. We had a safe and supportive space for real conversations and personal development through this leadership and management programme. The support and delivery by the facilitators and programme lead were second to none.

Cath Roff, Lead Trustee -Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at ADASS, said:

The Moving Up programme provides essential leadership development to support workers from diverse ethnic backgrounds to move into senior leadership roles and I personally know staff who have been on the programme and they speak highly of it.
