Our CEO, Oonagh Smyth, shares a brief Christmas message to thank the entire sector for its hard work and dedication throughout the year.

As we move through the Christmas season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work that the sector has come together to do this year. The dedication, compassion, and resilience we’ve seen in supporting those who draw on care and support has, as always, been nothing short of remarkable.

People working in this sector do it because they believe in the power of care—because we know that behind every moment of support, there’s a person whose life is made better, brighter, and more dignified. It’s a job that’s done because we know it’s about more than tasks or routines; it’s about giving people the opportunity to live with independence, joy, and connection.

At ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ, we work to ensure social care has the right people, skills and support required to deliver the highest quality care and support now and in the future. This year, we’ve worked harder than ever to make this a reality, launching a huge variety of projects that promise to create positive change for both the care workforce and those supported by it.

In the spirit of the season, I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering commitment to making the care community better. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day challenges, but I encourage you to take pride in your successes, both big and small.

I’d also like to encourage those reading to keep sharing their stories of compassion, achievement and celebration. We feature these stories every Friday across all our communications channels so that we can uplift each other and show the world the extraordinary impact of this sector’s work. You can share your good news stories by getting in touch with us at marketing@skillsforcare.org.uk.

As we look ahead to a new year, let’s carry forward the spirit of hope, kindness, and collaboration that defines our sector. I wish you all a peaceful Christmas, and I look forward to continuing our journey together in the year to come.
